Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup milk powder
1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
1/2 cup yogurt
1/2 cup milk
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
A pinch of saffron strands (optional)
A pinch of salt
Gulab Jamuns (store-bought or homemade)
For Sugar Syrup:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
A few saffron strands (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a cake tin.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together ghee, yogurt, and sugar until creamy.
In a separate bowl, sift together flour, milk powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk. Mix until smooth.
Add cardamom powder and saffron strands to the batter. Mix well.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin.
Place Gulab Jamuns evenly on top of the batter.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
While the cake is baking, prepare the sugar syrup by boiling sugar, water, cardamom powder, and saffron strands until it forms a slightly thick syrup.
Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the sugar syrup over the hot cake.
Allow the cake to soak in the syrup for at least 1-2 hours before serving.
Garnish with chopped nuts if desired.
