Khichu Recipe

Khichu is a popular Gujarati dish made from rice flour, seasoned with spices, and typically served as a soft dough or porridge.

It’s often enjoyed as a snack or side dish.

Boil water in a pan.
In a bowl, mix rice flour with cumin seeds, sesame seeds, ginger-green chili paste, and salt.
Slowly add the rice flour mixture to the boiling water, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.

Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously until it thickens.
Add oil and continue to stir until the mixture becomes a soft dough-like consistency.
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Grease your palms with oil and shape the mixture into small cylindrical dumplings.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve Khichu hot with oil or ghee.

Khichu papad recipe

1 cup rice flour

2 cups water

1 teaspoons cumin seeds

1 teaspoon sesame seeds

1 teaspoon ginger-green chili paste

Salt to taste

Oil for greasing

In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour and water, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.

Add cumin seeds, sesame seeds, ginger-green chili paste, and salt to the mixture. Mix well.

Transfer the mixture to a non-stick pan and cook over medium heat.

Keep stirring to prvent it from sticking to the bottom.

Cook until the mixture thickens and forms a smooth, dough-like consistency.

Once the dough is ready, remove it from heat and let it cool slightly.

Grease your palms with oil and take small portions of the dough to form round shapes.

You can use a little oil to make this process easier.

Flatten the rounds slightly to resemble small discs or papads.

Allow them to cool completely before serving.

Traditionally, these papads are steamed, but you can also choose to microwave or air-fry them for a healthier option.

Serve khichu papad with oil, green chutney, or a yogurt-based dip of your choice.
