What is upma?
Upma is a very famous South Indian traditional recipe, which is make with Rava or suji, it is very easy, & quick recipe to make. It is very healthy recipe, upma is made mostly as breakfast recipe.
Simple Upma Recipe
Let’s start making upma in a simple way
Ingredients
1. 2 cup Rave or suji
2. 1/2 Turmeric powder
3. 1/2 tsp salt as required
4. Mixed vegetable( beans, peas, carrot ,etc)
5. 1 onion Chopped
6. 1 inch grated ginger
7. 2_3 green chilies chopped
8. Curry leaves (few)
9. 2 cup Chana dal
10. 2 tsp urad dal ( black gram)
11. 2 tsp mustard seeds
12. 2 tsp cumin seed
13. 4 Tablespoon oil or butter
14. Water as required
15. 2 tsp lemon juice
16. Coriander leaves as required
Instructions
1. First of all take a pan put on flame add oil or ghee
2. Than add rave or suji dry roast it until rave become golden brown remove it in plate
3. Take same pan put on flame add oil or ghee when oil become hot
4. Add cumin seeds & mustard seeds saute it
5. Next add grated ginger, chana dal & urad dal again saute it
6. Next add onion when onion change its color add green chilies, curry leaves mix well
7. Next add turmeric powder, salt, mixed vegetables mix well
8. When all ingredients mixed well add water, cook 2 to 5 minutes
9. When mixed vegetable become soft add roasted rave or sooji
10. Add it by continuously stirring it to avoid lumps
11. Add lemon juice & coriander leaves mix well. when water absorb & suji cooked
12.Turn off flame upma is ready serve with any chutney you want.
Semiya Upma/ Vermicelli Upma
Let’s start making Vermicelli upma recipe in simple way
Ingredients
1. 2 cup Vermicelli
2. Salt as required
3. Curry leaves ( few)
4. 2 tablespoon oil or ghee
5. 1/2 tsp cumin seed
6. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
7. 2 tablespoon urad dal
8. 1 inch grated ginger
9. 3 green chilies chopped
10. 2 onion Chopped
11. 2 carrot chopped
12. 1/2 cup green peas
13. Water as required
14. Coriander leaves as required
15. 2 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
1. First of all take a pan add some oil put on flame
2. Add Vermicelli & dry roast it until it become golden brown then remove it in plate
3. Now again add oil or ghee when oil become hot.
4.Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds saute it
5. Next add urad dal, grated ginger green chilies mix well
6.Next add curry leaves saute it now add onion. When onion changes its color
7. Add carrot & green peas saute it again
8. Now add water & cook until vegetable become soft
9. Now add salt and coriander leaves when boil come in water & vegetable become soft
10. Add roasted Vermicelli by continuously stirring it to avoid lumps and add lemon juice
11. When Semiya upma reaches your desired consistency turn off flame
12. Semiya upma is ready.

Tomato upma Recipe
Let’s start making simple Tomato upma recipe
Ingredients
1. Rava or suji 2 cup
2. Oil 4 tablespoon
3. Cumin seeds 2 tsp
4. Mustard seeds 2 tsp
5. Tomatoes chopped 2
6. Urad dal 2 tsp
7. Chana dal 2 tsp
8. Few curry leaves
9. Green chilies chopped 4
10. Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
11. Onion Small chopped 2
12. Salt as required
13. Water as required
14. Coriander leaves as required
Instructions
1. First take a pan add oil and sooji roast it until it become golden brown remove it in a plate
2. Now in a pan again add oil when oil become hot add cumin seeds and mustard seeds saute it
3. Now add urad dal and Chana dal saute it add few curry leaves
4. Than add onion when onion change its color add tomatoes and green chilies saute it
5. When tomatoes become soft add ginger garlic paste Salt mix well
6. When all ingredients mixed well add water when boil comes in water
7. Add roasted sooji by continuously mixing it to avoid lumps
8. Cook until water absorbed and suji cooked turn off flame Tomato upma ready.
Bread upma Recipe
Let’s start making Bread upma recipe
Ingredients
1. 8_10 slices of bread
2. 2 onion Chopped
3. 2 tomatoes chopped
4. 2 capsicum chopped
5. 2 carrot chopped
6. 1/2 cup green peas
7. 2_4 green chilies chopped
8. Few curry leaves
9. 2 tablespoon oil
10. Salt as required
11. 1 tsp red chilli powder
12. 1 tsp turmeric powder
13. 1 tsp cumin seed
14. 1 tsp mustard seeds
15. 1 inch grated ginger
16. Coriander leaves as required
Instructions
1. First of all cut bread slices in small pieces( square shape)
2. Take a pan put on flame add oil when oil become hot
3. Add cumin seeds & mustard seeds saute it Next add curry leaves saute it
4. Now add onion when onion change its color
5. Add ginger green chilies saute it again now add tomatoes cook it
6. When tomatoes become soft add green peas, capsicum & carrots mix well
7. Add water when vegetables become soft add red chilli powder turmeric powder and salt mix well
8. Next add small pieces of bread mix well until bread coated to all ingredients
9. Carefully mix it avoid breaking the bread cook 5_8 minutes on low flame
10. When it cook well turn off flame bread upma is ready.
Dalia upma Recipe
Let’s start making Dalia upma recipe
Ingredients
1. 2 onion Chopped
2. 2 tomato chopped
3. 2 carrot chopped
4. 1/2 cup green peas
5. 2 cup Dali ( broken wheat)
6. 2_4 green chilies chopped
7. Salt as required
8. 4 tablespoon oil
9. Water as required
10. Few curry leaves
11. 1 tsp cumin seed
12. 1 tsp mustard seeds
13. 1 inch greated ginger
14. Coriander leaves as required
Instructions
Take a pan put on flame add some oil to roast Dalia
Roast Dalia until it become light golden remove it in plate
In same pan add oil when oil become hot add cumin seeds and mustard seeds saute it
Next add greated ginger & curry leaves mix well
Next add onion when onion change its color add green chilies, tomatoes when tomatoes become soft
Add green peas & carrot you can add your choice vegetable add water
Cook it until all vegetables become soft add salt when boil comes
Add roasted Dalia in it by continuously mixing to avoid lumps cover with lid
Cook 8_10 minutes when water absorbed and Dalia cooked well turn off flame
Dalia upma is ready to serve.
Oats upma Recipe
Let’s start making Oats upma recipe
Ingredients
1. 2 cup Oats
2. 2 onion Chopped
3. 2 tomatoes chopped
4. 1/2 cup green peas
5. Salt as required
6. 4 Tablespoon vegetable oil
7. Water as required
8. Few curry leaves
9. 1/2 cup mix vegetables (your choice )
10. 1 tsp cumin seed
11. 1 tsp mustard seeds
12. 1 inch grated ginger
13. 2_4 green chilies chopped
14. Coriander leaves as required
Instructions
1. First of all take a pan add 2 drop of oil add oats & roast it until it become golden
2. Than remove it in plate In same pan add oil when oil become hot add cumin & mustard seeds saute it
3. Than add curry leaves and grated ginger again saute it
4. Add onion when onion change its color add tomatoes when tomatoes become soft
5. Add green chilies, green peas, vegetable as your choice mixed vegetables mix well
6. Add water and let vegetable become soft when boil comes in water
7. Add roasted oats by continuously stirring it to avoid lumps add salt cover with lid
8. Low the flame when water absorbed and oats cooked turn off flame
Oats upma ready.
